The jewelry you wear reflects your soul and philosophy of life, Nigar Abbasbeyli (VIP TURKEY)

01.01.1970

Nigar Abbasbeyli, a successful businesswoman, told us about her new projects and investments that will be implemented in the upcoming year for VIP TURKEY readers.

Nigar Abbasbeyli, who is going to open a Baku branch of Bee Goddess, the jewelry brand that has spread all over the globe, and is preferred by famous celebrities, is a fan of jewelry like every other woman. However, she attaches particular importance to the Bee Goddess jewelry, which she wants to introduce to Baku women, because of the symbols used and the philosophy behind it. We also asked Nigar Abbasbeyli, a mother of three kids, about her daughter Sabina; the first time we met her was on O Ses Türkiye Çocuklar (The Voice Kids), a Turkish reality singing competition. It seems that we will be hearing more about Sabina Beyli, who is a very experienced and promising musician despite her young age.

- Nigar, can you please briefly introduce yourself?

- I was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and grew up there. During my university years, I worked as a newscaster and editor at the first private TV station in Baku. After graduating from Khazar University, where I studied English Language Philology and International Journalism, with a concurrent degree from both faculties, I got married and in 1998 I settled in the USA. I lived in the United States for 3 years, when my two sons were born. After a while I returned to Azerbaijan with my family. The reason I came back was because my husband, who passed the New York Bar exam after graduating from the universities of George Washington and Purdue and became a member of the Bar, wanted to return to his homeland and serve our country. After returning from the USA, I entered the Faculty of Law at Baku State University in 2003. Before graduation, my daughter Sabina was born, and in 2006, a mother of three children, I received my third diploma.

- So how did you get into business?

- After I received my third university degree in 2006, we established a family business to provide services in the field of event and décor management in the same year. For 12 years we were working tirelessly and completed outstanding projects; we were engaged in hotel conferences, weddings, and various parties, alongside the event management for both private and state companies. Since I have artistic leanings, and I have done many oil paintings professionally, I was involved in all the conceptual designs in our company. I was interested in all of them and therefore I always dreamed about opening an art gallery. So I rolled up my sleeves to accomplish it, you know. But when my kids were accepted into the American International School, TASIS, in London, my business life quickly climbed into the back seat and there was an intense period of me regularly traveling back and forth between Baku and London for 4 years.

But I never quitted painting and neither had I lost my interest in art. I was back to my entrepreneurial activity when one of my sons got onto the Business Management course at the University of Westminster in London, while my other son was admitted to Purdue University to study Political Science in the United States, as I felt it was time to return to business.
The symbol of the brand, Artemis, in the main corner...

- You are about to open a local branch boutique of the famous Turkish jewelry brand, Bee Goddess, in Azerbaijan. What gave you the idea to choose this brand?

- I am one of those who believe that nothing happens by accident, and I know very well why Bee Goddess came into my life. Like every woman, I love jewelry, but Bee Goddess products are very special for me. Why? Well, I’d say because of its philosophy. I met this brand a long time ago. I went to Bee Goddess, which was open in Akmerkez at that time, to buy an Artemis design, and when I entered the boutique I saw Kartal and listened to her story. I was so impressed that when I left the boutique with Kartal and Artemis, I decided to take this magnificent jewelry brand to Baku.

- What kind of concepts do you plan to use in the design of the boutique, and which jewelry designs do you plan to highlight?

- While preparing the concept of the boutique, we reviewed the entire Bee Goddess collection with interior designers. We used the honeycomb collection of Bee Goddess in the interior design of the place and of course, we placed the symbol of the brand, Artemis, in the main corner. We divided the boutique into two areas and decided to place High Jewelry products in the VIP area.
Women in Baku have the same refined taste as women in Turkey. That’s why we chose every detail meticulously, both in the concept of the boutique and during the product selection. As buyers, of course, we will try to cover all ages. I believe that all young girls and women will find products that best suit their taste and appeal to their soul in our boutique.
People are listening to her songs all over the world.

- What do you think of the connection between the jewelry we wear and our personality?

- I think the jewelry you wear, like the items in your home or office, reflects your soul and philosophy of life. This is one of the reasons why we want to take the Bee Goddess brand to Baku. The best proof of this is that world celebrities also prefer this brand. As you know, my daughter Sabina is also a singer and we used Bee Goddess designs in her two videos.

- While it’s about your daughter, let’s now talk a little bit about her… How did Sabina start her journey in her music career?

- Sabina has been interested in music since she was 6 and graduated from the Rashid Behbudov Music School, majoring in classical piano performance. When my daughter was only 7, she played Berkovich’s work with the Baku State Symphony Orchestra and gave concerts frequently. One day, I heard the recording announcement of O Ses Türkiye Çocuklar (The Voice Kids) program on a TV channel and immediately recorded Sabina’s voice. Three months later they called us and invited her to the qualifiers. I would like to thank Mr. Acun Ilıcalı from here because it was an excellent organization. Sabina passed the first elimination round and won the right to appear before the jury. Her performance made the jury member support her candidacy by pressing the buzzer and turning their seats towards the stage. Sabina’s choice was famous singer Hadise, and she continued her journey with her team until the semi-finals. In this project, Sabina made very good friendships and developed herself professionally. Valuable artist Oghuzhan Koch’s advice “Never quit music, Sabina” has become a life motto for her.
“Azerbaijan and Turkey: one nation, two states”.

- As far as we know, Sabina has accomplished very successful works after The Voice Kids (O Ses Türkiye Çocuklar). Can you talk a little bit about these works?

- After O Ses Türkiye Çocuklar, she participated in the Open Mic UK music competition in London with her own composition Believe in Yourself, progressing to the finals and received offers from the producers. During the 3 years since her participation in O Ses Türkiye Çocuklar, 5 of her songs were recorded, and people listen to her songs on music platforms such as iTunes and Spotify all over the world. The song “Maria Maria”, published on Sabina’s own YouTube channel “SabinaBeylivevoda”, has reached 2.5 million views. She is currently traveling to Los Angeles to make new songs. Despite her young age, Sabina, who has 35,000 followers on her Instagram page (@sabina.beyli), strives to be an inspiration to her fans, and puts a lot of effort into her education. Speaking of education, we are currently working on a project and, God willing, we will soon accomplish great things in the name of education in Turkey and Azerbaijan.

- What message would you like to give to our readers in these first days of the New Year?

- I congratulate everyone on the New Year, and I wish a wealth of peace and health, and all the best to Turkey. I would like to repeat the sentence that Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev was always reiterating, “Azerbaijan and Turkey: one nation, two states”.
On my own behalf, I wish that both countries continue to be part of very good projects in future.
